Daily Prayer

Holy God,
Unsearchable ‘I AM’,
Hidden within a bush aflame
And revealed within the dark storm cloud,
We turn aside to meet with you today.
Show us your glory.
Amen

Daily Scripture: Psalm 19

Find the above scripture in your bible and read slowly – you might want to read it out loud. You can read it here.

Lenten Quotes

Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made.

| Romans 1:20

“God gave humans a vocation: to reflect his image, to be a kingdom and priests, summing up the praises of creation and reflecting the creator’s wise rule into the world.”

| N. T. Wright

Lenten Reflection

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” Psalm 19:1

Everything we see in the natural world points to the Creator – He spoke LIFE into being. His heart and intentions have always been and will always be to bring life and creation is telling this story day after day, transcending language and culture.

Psalm 19 goes on to speak of God’s ways and how they revive the soul, are trustworthy, give joy & light, endure forever, are more precious than gold. His ways bring life.

We too, like the whole of creation, are called to join in with the storytelling! How can you bring life to the world around you today? Maybe take a moment to ask God to show you where He is already at work and how you might be able to join in.

Lenten Song: Judgements Are Better Than Gold

Closing Blessing

Having been liberated from the shackles of sin,
set free from satanic slave masters,
and bypassed by the forces of Death,
may you now be held fast
by the unbreakable bonds of God’s faithfulness.
May you know the guidance of his Spirit
during both the brightness of the day
and the darkness of the night,
Until you arrive safely at the borders
 of the Promised Land.
Amen

  1. I was reflecting this morning on the tension between the opening prayer and today’s Scripture, between Moses encountering God in the burning bush and the knowledge of God found in nature. In the first instance there is a divine encounter that takes place through a particular and ‘supernatural’ event that engages nature and the second through a dvine encounter that takes place through the ‘natural’ state of nature. Both give true knowledge of God but we often seem to see more legitimacy and depth in the ‘supernatural’ over the ‘natural’. My challenge to myself is to find God both in a bush that is ablaze and in one that is not.
