Lent: An Invitation to Journey Together

Hi Everyone,   As most of you will know, at TG we have tried to make observing the church calendar one of our shared practices as it helps us to live more fully into and out of the gospel. By taking time to lean into the seasons of Advent and Christmas, Lent and Easter, Pentecost and Ascension Sunday, we are wanting to shape our year around the revelation and mystery of Jesus’ life, death, resurrection, and ascension. It is this story that should be the defining reality of our lives and we want to be intentional about making sure that we keep it front and centre. It is for this reason that we take the church calendar seriously and this week marks the beginning Lent, which is the 40 day period of preparation leading up to Easter, and so we want to invite you to go on this journey with us.   Here are some of the ways you can do so:

  • ASH THURSDAY PRAYER– This marks the beginning of Lent and traditionally it is held on the Wednesday but we are incorporating it into our Thursday time of prayer. This will be at The Hub from 7-8pm this Thursday (3rd).
  • EVENING ZOOM REFLECTIONS – Starting next week (Mon. 7th) we will be hosting evening reflections each week from Monday to Thursday from 9-9:30pm and will be based on the book, ‘The Passion and the Christ’ by Ronald Rolheiser. Please do consider buying the book and using it as a resource for personal reflection as well as joining us when you can in the evening.
    • You can purchase the book HERE. If you would like a copy but money’s a bit tight at the moment, please just let us know and we will sort something out.
    • To join us on Zoom for these reflections just use click HERE. We will send this out again nearer to the time.

That’s it for now, but please do consider how and when you might join us on this pilgrimage toward the holy events of Easter.

Have a great week,
