This week in our Advent journey we turn our attention to the Gospel of John where in the opening 18 verses he highlight the themes of creation and new creation in Christ. But before you begin today’s reflection maybe just pause, turn your attention to God and pray the prayer below:
Lord Jesus,
Word at the beginning,
God the only Son,
Close to the Father’s heart…
Let the darkness be overcome
by the brilliance of your light.
Daily Scripture: John 1:9-11
Find the above scripture in your bible and read slowly – you might want to read it out loud. You can also find it here.
Advent Quote
‘In spite of all the centuries of waiting for their promised Messiah, when at last he appeared they not only dismissed his claim but instigated his destruction. It is a tragedy that brought tears to the eyes of Jesus (Luke 13:14, 19:41) and to Paul ‘unceasing anguish in [his] heart’ (Rom 9:2)’.

Advent Prayer: You Call Me
THUS speaks Christ our Lord to us:
You call me Master, and obey me not;
You call me light, and see me not;
You call me the Way, and walk me not;
You call me life, and live me not;
You call me wise, and follow me not;
You call me fair, and love me not;
You call me rich and ask me not;
You call me eternal, and seek me not;
If I condemn you; blame me not.
