Daily Prayer

Take a moment before you begin this morning and just slowly and meaningfully pray this prayer.

Lord of promise,
how quickly we forget,
how slow to understand,
The path is not the destination,
The desert not our land.
Amen.

Daily Scripture: EPHESIANS 2:1-10

Find the above scripture in your bible and read slowly – you might want to read it out loud. You can read it here.

Lenten Poem

This God,
who watches worlds,
sees my heart.
This careful calculator,
counting countless millions,
counts me in.
This artist,
whose canvas outstretches
eternity at both ends,
whose palette out-shines planets,
paints my portrait.
This lover,
who dreams in universes,
dreams of me.
This creator,
whose breadth of vision spans time
and spawns cosmos,
whose woven tapestry of purpose,
more compound than chaos,
eclipsing complexity,
rolls out like a highway through history,
whose heartbeat deafens supernovas,
this perfect parent
kisses me.
This playwright,
playing
with the deaths and entrances of stars,
scripting
the end from the beginning,
knowing
the purpose of the play,
watches my feeble audition,
and writes
me
in.

Lenten Song: You Brought Me Out

Closing Blessing

When memory forsakes us,
And we are tempted to return,
When forgetfulness makes us faithless
And truths remain unlearned,
When we run wild amidst the wilderness
And fashion idols amongst the sands
When the tester becomes the tested
And we lose sight of the promised land.

Forgive us Lord, we pray.

Deliverer, help us to remember,
And bring these things to mind,
That freedom stands before us.
And slavery behind.
That in the desert we are not deserted
And in our wanderings, we are not lost,
That no land is God-forsaken
And the promise worth the cost.

Bless us Lord, we pray

  1. Every time I hear the word “Grace” I am overwhelmed. I didn’t deserve it, I don’t deserve it and I won’t deserve it, but there it is and always will be. Thank you Jesus.

  2. Even when out of Egypt like the children of Israel, land of slavery, it’s the long journey out of slavery , the freeing and renewing of our minds. I thank God for the God moments of encounter and power and also maybe even more, for the daily invitation to yield to the Holy Spirit, turning to Him sitting, being, letting love and grace transform us.

  3. Soo good…
